Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease and flour two 9-inch cake pans or line them with parchment paper.
  3. In a large bowl, sift together the flour, black cocoa powder, unsweetened cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together buttermilk, sugar, vegetable oil, butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and white vinegar.
  5. Add black food coloring, mixing until the color is well incorporated.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared pans.
Baking
  1. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Cooling and Frosting
  1. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks.
  2. Frost with your favorite frosting once cool, preferably cream cheese frosting.
