  4. Stir in the drained corn, shredded cheddar cheese, granulated sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper until well combined.
  5. Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly.
  6. In a separate bowl, mix the crushed cornflakes with melted butter and sprinkle over the top of the casserole.
