Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the heavy cream, milk, minced garlic, salt, black pepper, and paprika.
- Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the prepared baking dish, overlapping slightly.
- Pour half of the cream mixture over the potatoes.
- Sprinkle half of the shredded cheddar cheese over the top.
- Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes and cream mixture, then top with remaining cheddar cheese and grated Parmesan.
- Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, until the potatoes are tender and the top is golden and bubbly.
- Let it cool for a few minutes before garnishing with fresh parsley and serving.
Notes
For a healthier alternative, consider using half-and-half or low-fat milk. You can also substitute whole wheat or cauliflower slices for a unique twist.
