Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked and drain excess fat.
  3. Add the chopped onion to the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes until translucent.
  4. In a bowl, mix cream of mushroom soup, milk, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and paprika.
  5. Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish and start layering with half of the sliced potatoes, half of the beef mixture, and half of the soup mixture.
  6. Sprinkle 1 cup of shredded cheese on top.
  7. Repeat layers with remaining ingredients and finish with the last cup of cheese on top.
  8. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  9. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until bubbly and golden brown.
  10. Let it cool for a few minutes and garnish with fresh parsley before serving.

Cook the ground beef ahead of time to save time on busy days. Consider sneaking in additional vegetables like spinach or bell peppers for extra nutrition. Allow time to cool slightly before cutting to maintain the layers.
