Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Roll out the pie crust and gently place it in a pie dish, pressing it firmly into the edges.
Cooking
- In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef alongside the diced onion until fully cooked and onions are translucent. Drain excess fat.
- Stir in the pizza sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
- Mix in half of the mozzarella and cheddar cheese until melted.
- Pour the beef mixture into the prepared pie crust, spreading evenly.
- Top with remaining mozzarella and cheddar cheese, and add pepperoni slices if desired.
- Place a second pie crust over the top, seal edges, and cut slits for steam to escape.
- Brush the top with the beaten egg.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until the crust is golden brown.
- Allow to cool slightly before slicing.
Notes
For variety, try different ground meats or add sautéed vegetables. Use leftovers for mini pies or decorative shapes.
