Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to ensure even baking for your bars.
- Grease or line a 9x13-inch baking dish with parchment paper for easy removal and cleanup.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, cream of tartar, and salt.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar together using an electric mixer until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
- Incorporate the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then add the vanilla extract and mix until combined.
- Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing just until well incorporated.
- Transfer the cookie dough into the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly.
- In a small bowl, mix the 1/4 cup sugar with 2 teaspoons of ground cinnamon, then sprinkle this mixture over the top of the dough.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes. When done, a toothpick inserted into the center should come out clean.
- Allow the bars to cool completely in the dish before cutting them into squares for serving. Enjoy!
Notes
Use room temperature ingredients to improve texture. Don’t overmix the dough and experiment with toppings like nuts or chocolate chips. Adjustments may be needed for high-altitude baking.
