For the pastry

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth.
  3. Stir in the vanilla extract, followed by the flour and salt. Mix until just combined.
  4. Fold in the mini chocolate chips.
Assembly
  1. On a floured surface, roll out the crescent roll dough and pinch seams together.
  2. Spread the cookie dough mixture evenly over the crescent roll dough.
  3. Cut the dough into strips approximately 1 inch wide.
  4. Twist each strip gently and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  5. Brush with the beaten egg and sprinkle additional chocolate chips on top if desired.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.
  2. Allow to cool slightly before serving.
