Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar with an electric mixer until creamy and light.
- Add the eggs and vanilla extract to the butter-sugar mix, beating until fully integrated and smooth.
- Gradually stir in the cocoa powder until the mixture is cohesive and silky.
- Fold in the chocolate chips and chocolate chunks until the dough is thick and full of chocolate goodies.
Baking
- Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough and roll them into balls. Space them about 2 inches apart on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, until the edges are set but the centers remain soft and gooey.
- Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
To enhance flavors, consider chilling the dough for 30 minutes before baking. Avoid overbaking to keep that lava center soft.
