Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the egg, followed by the vanilla and almond extracts.
- Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, folding gently until just combined.
- Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and chill in the fridge for at least an hour.
Baking
- On a floured surface, roll out the chilled dough to about 1/4 inch thick.
- Cut out shapes with cookie cutters.
- Place cookies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 8-10 minutes until edges are slightly golden.
- Allow cookies to cool before transferring to a wire rack.
- Once cooled, decorate with icing and sprinkles.
Notes
Ensure butter is at room temperature. Don't skip chilling the dough. Invest in festive cookie cutters for added charm.
