Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line your baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until smooth and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the vanilla extract, almond extract, and egg until well combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to about 1/4-inch thickness.
  7. Use a Christmas tree-shaped cookie cutter to cut out cookies and place them on the prepared baking sheets.
Baking
  1. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
  2. Allow the cookies to cool completely on a wire rack.
Decorating
