  • 3/4 cup brown sugar Adds that perfect caramelized sweetness.
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon The warm spice that holds everything together.
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract A natural flavor booster that complements the apples.
  • 1 cup Mountain Dew soda (or lemon-lime soda) Provides a light effervescence, adding moisture and flavor.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Unroll the crescent roll dough, separating it into triangles.
  3. Take one slice of apple, place it at the wide end of each triangle, and roll it up tightly.
  4. Arrange the rolled apple dumplings in the prepared baking dish.
Sauce Preparation
  1. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter.
  2. Stir in the brown sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla extract until smooth and bubbly.
  3. Pour the sauce evenly over the dumplings.
Baking
  1. Carefully pour the Mountain Dew soda around the edges of the dumplings.
  2. Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the dumplings are golden brown and bubbly.
  3. Remove from the oven and serve warm, drizzling some of the sauce over the top.

Notes

For added flavor, sprinkle some chopped nuts over the apple slices before rolling. Serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for a decadent finish. Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
