Ingredients

Cake Ingredients
  • 1 box Devil's Food cake mix
  • 1 box (3.9 oz) instant chocolate pudding
  • 5 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup sour cream or buttermilk
  • 3/4 cup brewed coffee
  • 2 cups Nestlé Toll House chocolate chips
Ganache Ingredients
  • 1 stick salted butter
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1/2 box powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 tbsp milk
Toppings
  • 1/2 cup pecan pieces

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease and flour a 9x13-inch baking dish.
Mixing the Batter
  1. In a large bowl, combine the Devil's Food cake mix and the instant chocolate pudding mix.
  2. To the dry mix, add the eggs, vanilla extract, vegetable oil, sour cream (or buttermilk), and brewed coffee. Mix well until smooth.
  3. Gently fold in the Nestlé Toll House chocolate chips.
Baking
  1. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Making the Ganache
  1. While the cake is cooling, melt the salted butter in a saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Stir in the cocoa powder, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk until smooth and creamy.
Finishing Touches
  1. Drizzle the ganache over the cooled cake and sprinkle with chopped pecans. Allow the ganache to set for 10-15 minutes before serving.

Notes

Ensure your eggs and sour cream or buttermilk are at room temperature for a smoother batter. For a deeper chocolate flavor, add a pinch of sea salt to the ganache.
