Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a bundt pan or a wreath-shaped cake pan to prevent sticking.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.
- Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the sour cream. Begin and end with the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
- Add a few drops of green food coloring to the batter and mix until the desired shade of green is achieved.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan, smoothing the top with a spatula.
Baking
- Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
Decoration
- Once the cake has cooled, decorate with assorted red and green candies to resemble a festive wreath.
Notes
To enhance flavor, consider adding a dash of almond extract. For a more intense green color, opt for gel-based food coloring. You can also incorporate chopped nuts or shredded coconut in the batter for added texture.
