Method
Prepare the Philly Cheesesteak Filling
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. When the oil is shimmering, add the thinly sliced ribeye steak and cook for about 2-3 minutes until browned.
- Toss in the sliced onion and bell pepper (if using) and sauté for an additional 2-3 minutes until softened.
- Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant. Season with salt and pepper to taste, then set aside to cool slightly.
Prepare the Garlic Butter
- In a small bowl, combine melted butter, minced garlic, parsley, oregano, and a pinch of salt. Stir until blended and set aside.
Assemble the Garlic Philly Cheesesteak Bread
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Slice the loaf of bread lengthwise to create a "boat" and gently hollow out part of the inside.
- Brush the insides of the bread with half of the garlic butter mixture. Layer the Philly cheesesteak filling inside the hollowed bread and top with provolone and cheddar cheeses.
- Brush the outside of the bread with the remaining garlic butter. Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Bake the Bread
- Bake for about 12-15 minutes until the bread is golden and the cheese is melted. Let cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving warm.
Notes
Tips: Use a meat slicer for uniform slices, be generous with garlic, experiment with cheeses, and you can add veggies like mushrooms or spinach for more flavor.
