Dry Ingredients
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour For a tender, chewy texture
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda Leavening agent for lift
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened For creamy richness
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar Adds sweetness and a slight crunch
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar Adds depth and moisture
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Enhances sweet flavors
  • 2 large eggs For binding and creating a soft cookie
Main Ingredients
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips The star ingredient providing gooey chocolate goodness

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare two baking sheets by lining them with parchment paper or silicone baking mats.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together 2 1/4 cups of all-purpose flour and 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda.
  3. In a larger bowl, cream together 1 cup of softened unsalted butter, 1/2 cup of granulated sugar, and 1 cup of packed brown sugar until light and fluffy (about 3 minutes).
  4. Gradually beat in 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract and the 2 large eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  5. Gradually mix the flour mixture into the butter-sugar mixture, stirring until just combined.
  6. Gently fold in 2 cups of semisweet chocolate chips.
  7. Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough and roll them into small balls. Place on prepared baking sheets and use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to create heart shapes.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes until the edges are golden brown and the centers are slightly soft.
  9. Cool on baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

Chill the dough for 30 minutes if too soft. Use high-quality chocolate chips for better flavor. Try adding a sprinkle of sea salt or using different types of chocolate chips.
