Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to ensure even baking.
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
- Incorporate the egg and vanilla extract into the butter-sugar mixture, beating until smooth.
- Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Divide the dough into two manageable portions.
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out one portion of dough to about 1/4-inch thickness.
- Use heart-shaped cookie cutters to cut out cookies and transfer them to the prepared baking sheet.
Baking and Decorating
- Bake the cookies for about 8-10 minutes or until the edges are slightly golden.
- Allow the cookies to cool completely on a wire rack.
- Once cooled, decorate with white and silver icing to create doves and wedding rings.
- Let the icing dry fully before serving or packaging.
Notes
Chill the dough if it's too soft, use quality icing for better results, and experiment with flavors. Prepare dough a day ahead if needed.
