Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  3. In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.
  4. In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar together until light and fluffy.
  5. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing on low speed until just combined.
  7. Gently fold in the chocolate chips and optional chopped nuts.
  8. Using a tablespoon or cookie scoop, drop rounded balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.
  2. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.

Notes
