Ingredients
  

Cupcake Base
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 cup milk
Filling and Decoration
  • 2 tablespoons strawberry or raspberry jam for filling
  • 1 batch buttercream frosting store-bought or homemade
  • Sprinkles, heart-shaped toppers, or fondant flowers for decoration

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition, then mix in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, and baking powder.
  5. Gradually incorporate the dry mixture into the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk until just mixed.
  6. Scoop the batter into the cupcake liners, filling each about two-thirds full.
Baking
  1. Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  2. Allow the cupcakes to cool completely on a wire rack.
Filling and Decorating
  1. Use a small knife or cupcake corer to remove a small section from the center of each cupcake.
  2. Spoon a generous amount of jam into each center.
  3. Frost the cooled cupcakes with buttercream frosting and decorate as desired.

Notes

To enhance the flavor, consider adding a dash of espresso powder to the batter. Experiment with different jam flavors for unique fillings.
