Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition, then mix in the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, and baking powder.
- Gradually incorporate the dry mixture into the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk until just mixed.
- Scoop the batter into the cupcake liners, filling each about two-thirds full.
Baking
- Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cupcakes to cool completely on a wire rack.
Filling and Decorating
- Use a small knife or cupcake corer to remove a small section from the center of each cupcake.
- Spoon a generous amount of jam into each center.
- Frost the cooled cupcakes with buttercream frosting and decorate as desired.
