Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the Italian sausage until browned and fully cooked, draining excess fat.
  4. In a mixing bowl, combine the cooked sausage with ricotta cheese, 1/2 cup of mozzarella, Parmesan cheese, beaten egg, Italian seasoning, and salt and pepper. Stir until well mixed.
  5. Spread a thin layer of marinara sauce on the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish.
Assembly
  1. Place a cooked lasagna noodle on a flat surface. Spoon about 2-3 tablespoons of the sausage mixture onto the noodle and roll it up tightly. Place seam side down in the baking dish. Repeat for remaining noodles and filling.
  2. Pour remaining marinara sauce over the rolled-up noodles, ensuring they are evenly coated. Sprinkle the rest of the mozzarella on top.
Baking
  1. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  2. Garnish with fresh basil or parsley before serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, try adding sautéed onions or garlic to the sausage. You can also incorporate chopped spinach or mushrooms into the cheese mixture for added nutrition. For quicker preparation, consider using pre-cooked sausage or ground turkey.
