  • 2-3 tbsp milk Adjust for desired consistency
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease and flour a 9x13-inch baking pan.
  3. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  4. In a large bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
  5. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  6. Add the flour mixture alternately with the milk, beginning and ending with the flour mixture. Mix until just combined.
  7. In a separate small bowl, dissolve the cocoa powder in the hot water to form a smooth chocolate paste.
  8. Divide the batter in half. Add the chocolate paste to one half and stir until well combined.
Baking
  1. Spoon alternating dollops of vanilla and chocolate batter into the prepared pan.
  2. Use a knife or skewer to swirl the batters together, creating a marble effect.
  3. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  4. Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
Glazing
  1. For the chocolate glaze, whisk together powdered sugar, cocoa powder, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  2. Drizzle the glaze over the cooled cake.
  3. Slice, serve, and enjoy!

Notes

Ensure all ingredients are at room temperature for optimal mixing. For a unique flavor, consider adding almond extract. You can use dark cocoa for a deeper chocolate flavor. Alternatively, drizzle with a warm berry compote for a fruity twist.
