Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease and flour a 9x13-inch baking pan.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
- Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Add the flour mixture alternately with the milk, beginning and ending with the flour mixture. Mix until just combined.
- In a separate small bowl, dissolve the cocoa powder in the hot water to form a smooth chocolate paste.
- Divide the batter in half. Add the chocolate paste to one half and stir until well combined.
Baking
- Spoon alternating dollops of vanilla and chocolate batter into the prepared pan.
- Use a knife or skewer to swirl the batters together, creating a marble effect.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
Glazing
- For the chocolate glaze, whisk together powdered sugar, cocoa powder, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Drizzle the glaze over the cooled cake.
- Slice, serve, and enjoy!
Notes
Ensure all ingredients are at room temperature for optimal mixing. For a unique flavor, consider adding almond extract. You can use dark cocoa for a deeper chocolate flavor. Alternatively, drizzle with a warm berry compote for a fruity twist.
