Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and generously grease your 9x5-inch loaf pan.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
- Add eggs to the butter-sugar mixture one at a time and mix well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract, red food coloring, buttermilk, and vinegar until smooth.
Baking
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing just until combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and bake for 55-65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
Frosting
- Beat the softened cream cheese and unsalted butter until smooth, then gradually add powdered sugar to your desired sweetness.
- Stir in the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt.
- Once the cake has cooled, spread the cream cheese frosting evenly over the top.
Notes
Ensure butter is at room temperature for easy blending. Use high-quality cocoa powder for a richer taste. Don't overmix the batter once flour is added to avoid a dense texture.
