- Heat the vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat. Carefully place the patties in the skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until browned and cooked through.
- Once cooked, remove the patties from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the sliced onions and sauté for about 5 minutes, until softened and translucent.
- Stir in the flour and a pinch of garlic powder with the sautéed onions. Gradually pour in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, stirring continuously until the mixture thickens.
- Place the cooked hamburger steaks back into the skillet with the gravy. Reduce the heat, cover, and let them simmer for about 5-10 minutes.
- Serve hot, ladling ample gravy and onions over each patty.
Notes
Make patties ahead of time and refrigerate. Experiment with different types of ground meat.
