Ingredients

For the Marinade

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce Offers a savory umami flavor that deeply penetrates the beef.
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar Adds a caramelized sweetness that balances out the saltiness of the soy sauce.
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar Contributes a touch of tanginess, enhancing the overall taste.
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil Imparts a nutty aroma that rounds out the flavors beautifully.
For the Stack
  • 2 cups cooked jasmine rice Fluffy, aromatic rice that serves as a delightful base.
  • 1 ripe avocado, sliced Creamy and buttery, elevating the dish with healthy textures.
  • 1/4 cup green onions, chopped Provides a fresh, crisp bite.
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds Nutty and crunchy, perfect for garnishing.
  • Salt and pepper Essential for bringing all the flavors together.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the soy sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, and sesame oil. Stir until the sugar dissolves completely.
  2. Add the thinly sliced beef sirloin to the marinade. Toss to ensure each piece is thoroughly coated and let it marinate for at least 30 minutes.
Cooking
  1. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef (reserve some marinade for later) and cook for about 4-5 minutes until browned.
  2. Season lightly with salt and pepper and set aside.
Assembly
  1. In a serving glass or bowl, start with a layer of fluffy jasmine rice.
  2. Spoon a layer of cooked teriyaki beef over the rice.
  3. Place slices of avocado atop the beef.
  4. Sprinkle with green onions and sesame seeds. Repeat the layers until you reach the top.
  5. Finish with a final layer of avocado and an extra sprinkle of green onions and sesame seeds before serving.

Notes

For best results, marinate the beef longer if time permits. Ensure to use ripe avocados for optimal texture and flavor.
