Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream together butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add egg, molasses, and vanilla extract to the butter mixture and whisk until smooth.
  5. Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until a rich dough forms.
  6. Wrap dough in plastic wrap and chill in the fridge for at least one hour.
  7. On a floured surface, roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thickness.
  8. Use cookie cutters to cut out gingerbread shapes.
Baking
