Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9x13-inch baking dish with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy (about 2-3 minutes).
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, fully incorporating each before adding the next, and mix in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
  6. Press the cookie dough evenly into the prepared baking dish and smooth the top with a spatula.
Baking
  1. Bake for 18-22 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  2. Let the cookie bars cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares.

Notes
